Doctors and Chefs Pair Up for NuGenesis Fundraising Dinner

Nine local doctors will pair up with talented local chefs to prepare and serve a fundraising dinner in the second annual Harvest for Your Health event, running from 3:30 to 7 p.m., September 29, on the 35-acre NuGenesis Farm (NGF), a nonprofit that works to prevent disease by promoting sustainable organic agriculture, education and research. The dinner takes place under big tents on the outside grounds and features live music. A children’s station will showcase seed planting, smoothie making, vegetable art and literacy activities. Purple Cow will provide sustainability consultation to ensure the afternoon is a near-zero waste event.

“Our second annual Harvest for Your Health event is bound to be a success,” says Kathy Bero, who founded NuGenesis in 2010, after she learned about the healing power of certain foods through a personal battle with cancer. “People are literally hungry for good information and passionate about choosing and preparing food that keeps them healthy or helps them avoid disease or recover from an illness.”

For the past three years, NuGenesis has been a critical agent of change in thinking about disease prevention, according to Bero, who notes that NGF works daily to teach how individuals can make informed decisions that will play a key role in improving their health, reducing healthcare costs and securing a sustainable community.
