Art Exhibit to Feature Works by Riverwest Elders

The Riverwest Elders, a diverse group of neighbors over 50 in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood, will exhibit their artwork in the Creative Expressions exhibit, which runs from February 8 to March 8 at the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts. An artists’ reception takes place from 1 to 5 p.m., February 8.

Presented by the Riverwest Artists Association, the event features painting, drawing, weaving, jewelry, photography, sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, music, poetry, card making and writing. Workshops and demonstrations will be held throughout the duration of the exhibit. Exhibit venues include the indoor Winter Gardeners Market, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., February 16 and March 2.

The Riverwest Elders was formed in 2009 after a neighborhood survey revealed that a significant percentage of older adults live in and around Riverwest. The group’s mission is to share wisdom, live life to its fullest potential and give back to the community.
