Acupressure for Self-Care Workshops in Waukesha

Susan Hodges

Susan Hodges, a master of education, certified acupressure practitioner and Seva Stress Release acupressure teacher, will offer the workshop Seva Stress Release Acupressure for Self-Care, at Kindred Spirit Center, in Waukesha. There are three chances to attend—from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. or from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., January 16, and again from 9 a.m. to noon, January 18.

According to Hodges, who provides Reiki and Seva Stress Release acupressure through her company, Spirit Space LLC, the workshop teaches how to use acupressure points on oneself. The method, which involves gentle finger pressure, is used to establish balance and well-being. No experience or special equipment is necessary. The benefits of acupressure may include tension relief, a balanced flow of natural energy, the experience of increased energy and creativity, and a peaceful mind, body and spirit.

Course content covers a short history of acupressure, including the development of Soul Lightening acupressure, from which the Seva Stress Release technique arose. Participants will learn how energy moves through the body and how to practice chakra t’ai chi, movement that grounds and balances the chakras. Hands-on practice of a simple sequence of acupressure points, interaction, discussion and an easy-to-follow workbook are included. Nurses and massage therapists may be eligible for continuing education credits.
