Milwaukee Acupuncturist Earns Detox Certification

Beth Bachus

Beth Bachus at Simply Acupuncture, a community clinic in West Milwaukee, recently received national certification in Acu Detox from the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). This relaxing, non-verbal, auricular acupuncture technique helps with withdrawal, recovery and maintenance from substance abuse and addictive behaviors. It also has been found to help with anxiety disorder, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention deficit/hyperactive disorder (ADD/ADHD), impulse control, mental illness, mental clarity and dual diagnosis. A modification of the protocol using ear seeds helps children with ADD/ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome until they are ready to experience acupuncture.

“Many people lead stressful lives and have anxiety and insomnia, and this is a great holistic approach to handling these conditions,” says Bachus. “It is a wonderful complement to diet, exercise and behavior-modification therapies. It also is beneficial to veterans,” she adds.

An alternative to pharmaceutical treatments, this protocol can be received daily. For those in the early stages of addiction withdrawal, it can be received multiple times per day until simple maintenance treatments are sufficient.

The clinic has a one-time, $10 administration fee and a sliding-fee scale of $15 to $35, and will work with clients to create a treatment plan. Walk-in hours are Monday through Wednesday, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., and Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Calling ahead is recommended.
