PLUMERIA ACUPUNCTURE AND HOLISTIC WELLNESS CENTER is proud to welcome a new practitioner to the team. Dr. Justin Heesakker has been a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist since 2010. He earned his M.S. and Doctorate from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, now called Pacific College of Health and Science, in San Diego, and his B.S. in Business Administration from Marquette University. In addition to performing clinical and medical education work, Dr. Justin has developed integrative medicine programs at UCLA; the Penny George Institute of Health and Healing at Allina Health in Minneapolis; VA Medical Centers in Washington, DC and Minneapolis and at Naval Hospital Camp in Pendleton, California. In his private practice work, he has focused on fertility, pain relief, sleep medicine and stress management.

Dr. Justin has completed clinical internships at the San Diego Hospice and the Institute for Palliative Medicine, the University of California at San Diego Sports Medicine Program, Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego and AcuSport Health Center. These experiences facilitated his interest in working with integrative teams and with diverse patient populations with a wide range of complexity. Each experience provided opportunities to serve unique groups of patients. This has helped shape a broad perspective on how people can optimize their own health and well-being and live with improved vitality.

Justin was an acupuncture patient for almost 10 years before he began the path to studying Eastern Asian medical systems and becoming a practitioner himself. “It is a lifelong journey of learning from a rich historic field that integrates all elements of mind, body and spirit,” Dr. Justin shares. 

He’s very excited to begin seeing patients at Plumeria Acupuncture and Holistic Wellness Center. Dr. Justin lives in Port Washington and enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors in nature, as well as cooking healthy meals and enjoying the local farmers markets.
