Prolific singer, songwriter and folk artist Tret Fure will perform at 7 p.m. on October 6 at Unity Church Wauwatosa for a fundraiser for the Hunger Task Force, Milwaukee’s free local food bank. Fure has released 17 albums and CDs over her long career. She has engineered and produced recordings by a variety of artists as well as her own work; has opened for Yes, Poco and the J. Geils Band; and was a guitarist and vocalist with Spencer Davis before embarking on a solo career. Tret was the 2023 recipient of the Phil Ochs Award, which honors folk artists who work for and promote social and political justice through their music.

Local pianist Ann Ruane will open for Fure. Ruane is finishing her second CD of original piano music and is the arranger for, and playing the part of the angel in, the play Come Home - A Musical Tale of Awakening.

“Tret is an inspiration to all of us who believe in social justice, compassion for our human condition, following your heart and loving life. You will be uplifted, inspired and joyful just being in her presence,” says Diane Bloom of Free Spirit Crystals.
