Milwaukee Goes Tropic for Urban Island Beach Party Fundraiser

Milwaukeeans can don their Hawaiian shirts and head to the Urban Island Beach Party, from 5 to 11 p.m. on August 2, at Lakeshore State Park. The festival promises live music, fantastic food and drinks, kayaking, Hawaiian dancing and more, with proceeds going to Friends of Lakeshore State Park.

The event also features a special Floating Lantern Celebration: At dusk, guests are invited to light and launch a floating lantern into the lagoon along with a wish that suits their desires. To participate in the lantern celebration, attendees can pre-purchase a lantern for $20 when registering and automatically become a member of the park.

The event also includes kayak rides with Milwaukee Kayak, traditional Hawaiian music and dances from the Hale o Malo dancers, face painting by Diana’s Snazy Face Painting, henna tattoos by Elegant Henna Tattoo, a beach bonfire, and food and beverages for purchase from local craft brewers and restaurants. Friends of Lakeshore State Park is dedicated to promoting and supporting the park for the entire community to enjoy.

Cost: General admission is free. Location: 500 N. Harbor Dr., Milwaukee. For more information, visit Newaukee.com/event/urban-island-beach-party.
