Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much. ~Helen Keller

In a talk presented during the 2015 Women on the Edge of Evolution telesummit, renowned spiritual teacher Marianne Williamson emphasized the importance of sisterhood and community. She remarked that as the world undergoes huge shifts and changes that affect us all, we need to support one another more than ever. We need community to survive and thrive. This requires individually and collectively moving from a mindset of scarcity and competition to one of abundance and collaboration.

Williamson shared a story about a dark period during her life, when she removed herself mentally and physically from the conscious community of which she’d become an integral part. Once she had found herself again, she returned and quickly discovered that during her years of absence, the world she’d known had morphed, leaving her dangling behind. New communications technologies, including websites, social media and worldwide online telesummits, had become the new norm. Williamson felt unable to find her place again until Debbie Ford, a bestselling author and international expert in the field of personal transformation and human potential, came to her rescue. Ford was scheduled to host a telesummit and insisted that Williamson join her as her co-host. Rather than seeing Williamson as a competitor, Ford embraced her with love and support, recognizing how each individual is critical in contributing their part in the world. As Williamson recounted the story, she repeated again and again with awe, “I will never forget what she did for me.”

These are critical times for our planet, and each of us has a spiritually enlightened role to play. Every business, organization and individual that strives to improve the well-being of our community is a blessing, and my hope is that we can all support each other as we work toward the common good.
