Outpost Natural Foods Chooses 2015 Community Partners

Outpost Natural Foods Cooperative has selected four nonprofits to join its 2015 Community Partners give-back program, which works to build strong community partnerships with local like-minded organizations. This year’s recipients are Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative, featured January through March; Wellspring, April through June; Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, July through September; and Progressive Community Health Centers, October through December.

As part of this partnership with four different nonprofits annually, each organization receives a $3,000 donation from Outpost, plus a quarter of the earned interest from Outpost’s Co-op Community Fund, an endowment of the Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation that supports co-op development across the United States. The program also allows the nonprofits to partner with the co-op on outreach, volunteer and fundraising events.

New this year, Outpost employees can enroll in a voluntary payroll deduction program, in which a portion of each paycheck is designated for one or more of the four community partners. The co-op matches up to $5,000 of total employee contributions.

Serving the greater Milwaukee area since 1970, Outpost Natural Foods Cooperative operates four store locations, boasts more than 21,000 co-owners in southeastern Wisconsin and employs nearly 500 union-represented workers.
