Natural Awakenings Milwaukee Magazine

Bake Sale for Pediatric Cancer Research

MKEfoodies, a collective group of food and drink enthusiasts, will host a holiday bake sale from 1 to 4 p.m., December 7, at the Hudson Business Lounge, in Milwaukee, and will donate the proceeds to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, a nonprofit dedicated to fundraising for childhood cancer research. Local bakers and food bloggers will do the baking, and Santa Claus will be the celebrity guest.

“Everyone loves homemade treats around the holidays,” says Lori Fredrich, co-founder of MKEfoodies. “We also have a wealth of talented chefs, home bakers and food bloggers in the Milwaukee area, so why not bring them together? The bake sale will give people the opportunity to gather up delicious treats for their holiday tables while making a difference in children’s lives.”

MKEfoodies aims to support local artisan food businesses and independent restaurants, and uses its food-related events to raise funds for food pantries, urban gardens, food-related community organizations and charitable organizations that fight disease and injustice.

Admission is free; baked goods are individually priced. Location: 310 N. Broadway, Milwaukee. For more information, call 414-698-3501, email [email protected] or visit MKEfoodies.com.
