Urban Wild Foraging Workshop in Greenfield

Resiliency Training, LLC, and Sustainable Self-Reliance, LLC, will co-lead a workshop on urban wild foraging from 1 to 4 p.m., October 5, in Greenfield. This hands-on interactive workshop demonstrates how to identify wild edible plants and use them to add flavor and nutrients to meals. Students participate in gathering wild edibles and creating a light meal with those ingredients. If weather permits, the class is held outside near a permaculture garden that contains herbs and vegetables that are added to the dishes.

Shannon Francis, founder of Resiliency Training, has taught outdoor education for the Peace Corps, the YMCA and the state park system. She is currently an outdoor survival instructor for the department of recreation for the cities of Greenfield and Milwaukee. Susan Haas, founder of Sustainable SelfReliance, is a longtime forager who is passionate about supporting others in creating a more sustainable, self-reliant life and cooking healthy, delicious meals.

Cost: $45 in advance; $50, day of class; includes class-prepared light meal and beverages. Location: 5858 S. 43rd St., Greenfield. For information, call 262-515-5331, email [email protected] or visit ResiliencyTraining.net.
