Near-Zero Waste Event Returns to Sunset Park

The Big Green Sustainable Music Festival will be held at the Sunset Park Amphitheater in Kimberly, Wisconsin, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., August 17. This is the first event in the area to adhere to ISO 20121 Sustainable Event Management Standards.

Presented by the nonprofit Sustainable Fox Valley, which will benefit from the proceeds, this all-ages, near-zero waste festival features live music by the Chris Aaron Band, Ifdakar, Dead Horses, Evergreen and Unity, with equipment powered by biodiesel generators and solar power. All food vendors will serve their offerings on fully compostable plastic and paper dinnerware that has been certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute. Those 21 and older also can quench their thirst with Stone Arch Beer, brewed in Appleton, with malt sourced from Chilton, WI. Children’s activities will offer fun ways to learn about sustainable living, including a falconry presentation with a red-tailed hawk.

The mission of Sustainable Fox Valley is to engage and connect Fox Valley residents in improving the long-term health of their communities.
