Outpost Natural Foods Is Expanding

Outpost Natural Foods Co-op has opened its second Market Café in the lobby at the Rite-Hite Family YMCA, in Brown Deer. The property at 9250 North Green Bay Road is shared by Outpost, the Y, Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare and Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. The Outpost Market Café is a 500-square foot kiosk in an area of the Y’s lobby called the Healthy Lifestyle Village and will offer signature Outpost prepared foods, including salads, sandwiches, entrees and hot soups, as well as whole and precut fruit, dairy items and baked goods. Smoothies, freshly brewed coffee and espresso drinks will also be available. Patrons on the go can grab packaged snack bars, nuts, dried fruits and bottled beverages. The Café is open to anyone; membership to the Y or aquatic center is not required.

In addition, the co-op is preparing to complete the acquisition of 1.89 acres for its fourth full-service retail store, to be built at the northeast corner of Wauwatosa and Mequon roads, in Mequon. Green and sustainable construction on the 16,000-square-foot store will begin in mid-summer.

Serving the greater Milwaukee area since 1970, Outpost Natural Foods Cooperative, the country’s fourth largest cooperatively owned natural foods grocer, operates three retail locations and an Outpost Market Café and employs nearly 380.
