MKEfoodies Sponsors Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Bake Sale

This year, stuffing Christmas stockings with homemade treats could mean a breakthrough in pediatric cancer research. MKEfoodies will be sponsoring a holiday bake sale to raise money for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, from noon to 4 p.m., December 8, at Best Place, in the historic Pabst Brewery, where local bakers, food bloggers and baking enthusiasts will sell their best cookies, candies and treats. Santa will be there to meet and greet children and adults alike. Guests that donate $2 or more at the door will be entered to win gifts from Santa.

All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, a nonprofit organization committed to raising funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancers. Childhood cancers are the number one disease killer of children—more than asthma, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis and pediatric AIDS combined. Nearly 13,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year, yet no new drugs have been developed specifically for pediatric cancer in the past 20 years. Through local bake sales, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer provides inspiration and support for individuals, communities and businesses to help fight pediatric cancer.

Cost: Free. Location: 901 W. Juneau Ave., Milwaukee. For more information, call 414-698-3501, email [email protected] or visit MKEFoodies.com.
