Milwaukee Global Mala Yoga Event at Pier Wisconsin

The third annual Milwaukee Global Mala (MGM), produced by omTown Yogis, will take place from 6 to 11 a.m., September 22, under a large tent overlooking Lake Michigan at Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin. The only event of its kind in the region, MGM brings together yoga instructors, practitioners and studio owners to practice with the collective intention of creating global peace and union. omTownYogis is a local, nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to doing social good by broadening the practice of yoga.

The first two events each welcomed more than 200 yogis. This year’s schedule includes a guided meditation at sunrise, a gentle asana class, a 108-surya-namaskar class and a closing kirtan—all taught by a diverse group of local yoga teachers and set to live music by Mali Blues, a local group of talented musicians playing Malian instruments and songs. A random drawing of teachers that were nominated took place on August 2.

For those that meditate or practice yoga, whether gentle or more vigorous, this is a powerful, beautiful and uniting event, filled with the energy of Milwaukee’s local yoga community focusing its positive intentions collectively.
