Yoga Rocks The Park Festival Comes to Milwaukee

Founded in Denver, Colorado, Yoga Rocks The Park (YRTP) was conceived to give urban yogis around the country the opportunity to practice outdoors to a soundtrack of high-quality, live music. Since its launch in 2008, the weekly summer event has grown steadily from a small grassroots gathering to a thriving wellness festival spanning 10 states. YRTP Milwaukee 2012 will take place on Sunday mornings from July 1 through September 2, at Lake Park’s Grand Staircase. Music and vending begin at 9 a.m., with a 90-minute asana practice starting at 9:30 a.m.

The 2012 lineup includes the area’s most respected yogis, including private instructor Ryan Hader, Yama Yoga’s Marietta Pucillo, Yoga Ward’s Jaimi Patterson, YogaOne’s Meg Galarza and Integrative Expression’s Tami Limbach. In partnership with YogiTunes, the live music will cover a wide range of genres, from the downtempo electronica of Manuel Quintero to the Native American fluting of Dennis Hawk and the transcendent kirtan of Kaita Bliffert.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to linger before and after the practice—exploring the vibrant vendor area, connecting with new friends and enjoying the sunshine. Young yogis are encouraged to enjoy Camp Yoga Rock, a whimsical blend of kids’ yoga, crafts, face painting and play.

Cost: $10, in advance, or $15, day of event. For tickets, visit YogaRocksThePark.com. For more information, contact Ryan Hader at 414-916-2376 or [email protected], or contact Shayna Broadwell at 414-477-3086 or [email protected].
