Invasive Plant Removal Project

Local citizens will work together to encourage the growth of native flora by removing invasive garlic mustard plants along the Kinnickinnic Parkway, from 1 to 4 p.m., May 5 and 19 and June 2. A native plant hike will begin at 4 p.m., June 2, following the cleanup.

Local businesses are supporting the effort by donating prizes and other support for volunteers. Prizes include a tandem skydive from Skydive Milwaukee, two tickets to The Milwaukee Repertory Theater, an oil change from Baychar Auto Service, Papa Murphy pizzas, a massage from Cindy Vincent and fun things from the Science Surplus store. Outpost Natural Foods, Walgreens and Aldi also donated to the project. Thanks to the assistance of Parks People and Milwaukee County Park staff, the weed-out is moving forward and still needs more volunteer workers.

Location: Interested individuals should meet on the Kinnickinnic Pkwy. at 51st St. For more information, call Barb at 386-871-8199.
