Lakota Stone Animal Carving Fetish Workshop
Join Djuro and special guest Lakota elder Mr. Charging Crow for a full day workshop to create your own fetish carving. Mr. Charging Crow is a traditional Lakota carver, and you will learn the meaning of the fetish to the Sioux Nation and how to tap into the energy of the stone to determine which animal to carve. The workshop will begin with ceremony to connect you with your spirit guides. As you begin carving, the first layer of the stone's surface is removed and the animal Spirit’s natural form is revealed. You'll be guided through his traditional practices to complete your own fetish carving and learn the meaning of the different sacred embellishments. All tools, supplies, materials, and lunch provided. No experience necessary. Class is limited to 16 participants. Included: Tools provided - files, saws, rasps, sandpaper Supplies - gloves, mask, eye protection Materials - White Blackhills Alabaster Stone, beads, stones, leather medicine bag, pheasant feathers Light snacks will be provided.
