Summer Crostini Made Easy

Jul 31, 2026 ● By Jordan Peschek

Crostini is a close cousin of bruschetta, featuring smaller, thinner slices of toasted bread that are perfect as finger food or a tapas-style appetizer. It’s one of the simplest ways to showcase fresh, seasonal ingredients with delicious flavor combinations that come together in just minutes.

For all of these recipes, start with one French or Italian baguette, thinly sliced. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees until lightly toasted. Then top with any of these delicious combinations.

Fig and Feta Crostini

Top toasted crostini with fig jam and crumbled feta cheese. Goat cheese or blue cheese also pairs beautifully with the fig jam. For extra flavor, add fresh basil leaves, a drizzle of balsamic glaze or chopped toasted walnuts.

Caprese Crostini

Layer fresh mozzarella and tomato slices on lightly toasted crostini. Halved grape tomatoes and mini mozzarella balls also work well. Sprinkle with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, then garnish with fresh basil leaves. Finish with a light drizzle of olive oil and balsamic glaze.

Strawberry and Goat Cheese Crostini

Spread plain goat cheese on toasted crostini and top with chopped fresh strawberries. For a touch of sweetness, drizzle lightly with honey. Garnish with fresh mint for a bright, herbal finish.
