Dr. Jana Ledic, Holistic Dentistry of Port Washington
Dr. Jana Ledic is quietly reshaping what it means to go to the dentist at Holistic Dentistry of Port Washington. A mother of four and a self-described lifelong learner, Dr. Jana did not initially set out to practice holistic dentistry. “I didn’t even know holistic dentistry existed,” she says. “I’d always been a very conservative dentist. But once you see the connection between the mouth and the whole body, you can’t unsee it.”
Today, she and her team serve families from across Wisconsin and beyond, with patients traveling from Illinois, Michigan and even as far away as South Dakota to receive full-service dentistry grounded in a whole-body philosophy.
Whole-Body Health Starts with the Mouth
At the core of Dr. Jana’s approach is a simple, but powerful belief: Whole-body health starts with whole-mouth health.
The practice offers general dentistry, pediatric care, cancer screenings and head and neck exams, along with crowns, bridges, ceramic implants, inlays, onlays, removable prosthodontics and non-surgical periodontal therapy. Yet what distinguishes this office is not merely the services provided, but the lens through which they are delivered.
“We are health first,” Dr. Jana explains. “This is not a business to us. Yes, we have to pay our team and keep the doors open, but first and foremost, we educate our patients. I won’t make decisions for them. I give them the tools, and they choose what’s best for their body.”
In a world where patients often feel rushed or pressured, that distinction matters.
Listening as a Clinical Tool
Many of Dr. Jana’s patients arrive after long and frustrating journeys. Some have been told their symptoms are insignificant. Others have been handed aggressive treatment plans without explanation.
“So many people come in and say, ‘I know something is wrong. Nobody will listen,’” she says. “When you just stop talking and listen to patients, you figure out why very quickly.”
She describes patients who have been told they need a dozen fillings, and others that believe every cavity can be reversed naturally. Her role, she says, is neither to dismiss conventional dentistry nor to endorse every alternative promise. “Yes, you can sometimes heal cavities. But once decay reaches the pulp, it’s too late,” Dr. Jana explains.
Her commitment to balanced, ethical care extends to materials and procedures. Ceramic implants are offered for patients seeking non-metal options. Bone grafting materials are discussed transparently. X-rays are used judiciously, but not avoided when clinically necessary. “I’m not putting anything in someone’s body without them fully understanding and choosing it,” she says.
Meeting Families Where They Are
Holistic Dentistry of Port Washington cares for patients across the lifespan, including children. Pediatric visits are approached with patience and creativity: headphones, video screens overhead, sunglasses and small motivators to help young patients feel at ease.
Equally important is removing shame from the equation. When children present with multiple cavities despite attentive parenting, Dr. Jana reframes the conversation. “This isn’t a mom problem,” she says. “There’s usually an underlying issue. Let’s help you find the root cause.”
From nutrition and oral habits to breathing patterns and tongue posture, the practice looks beyond the surface. Orthodontic evaluations consider swallowing and airway development. Sleep conversations explore alternatives and realistic expectations. Each interaction is tailored to where a family stands in its wellness journey.

Dr. Jana credits her team for helping create a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, as well as a culture of care, support and education. Long-time colleague Candice Mentch affirms, “We take pride in our hygienists, our assistants and our front staff being able to walk through the journey with our patients.”
Education does not stop with the doctor. Hygienists and front office staff are encouraged to understand the philosophy behind each recommendation so they can answer questions with clarity and compassion, and the learning flows both ways.
“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t learn something new,” says Mentch. “Our patients plant seeds, too. They ask questions that make us do research. We hold each other accountable with our health.”
A Human Approach to Dentistry
Outside the office, Dr. Jana’s world revolves around her four children, ages 5 to 13. As a single mother, she often brings them to the office on days off, crediting her team as part of her extended village. Weekends are filled with basketball tournaments, carpools and the rhythm of family life.
That lived experience shapes her practice. She understands the overwhelm parents feel when faced with conflicting information and high-stakes decisions. She understands the financial and emotional weight of dental care. And she understands the courage it takes to advocate for one’s health.
For patients seeking safe, non-toxic, minimally invasive dental care delivered with integrity and empathy, Holistic Dentistry of Port Washington offers more than procedures. It offers partnership, education and a place to be heard.
