Festive Fall Fun for Good Causes

Those seeking Halloween family fun can find two options in the Mukwonago and Delafield areas, and support opportunities for youth and nature. The Hollow at Phantom Lake, held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. October 4, 5, 11 and 12 at Phantom Lake YMCA Camp, in Mukwonago, features a stroll through a jack-o’-lantern wonderland with more than 1,000 hand-carved illuminated pumpkins adorning enchanted forest trails covered in pixie dust. From black cats and broomsticks to spiders and hooting owls, The Hollow promises to stir the imagination and rekindle nostalgia for the season. The Hollow benefits the Phantom Lake Youth Scholarship fund.

For older children and adults, the 22nd annual Lapham Peak Fright Hike in Delafield takes place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on October 18 and 19. Attendees can enter the dark forest at their own risk and behold ghoulish scenes while walking through the one-mile haunted trail with wandering spooks. After the hike, people can share ghost stories and enjoy musical entertainment by the bonfire. Concessions will be available at the Evergreen Shelter.

Proceeds from admission and concessions benefit the Ice Age Trail and Lapham Peak State Park, promoting health, community and the environment. The Fright Hike is held rain or shine with no refunds. No pets are allowed.
