Celebrate Earth Day with Rock the Green
and Milwaukee Riverkeeper

From 9 a.m. to noon, April 21, Milwaukee Riverkeeper is proudly hosting their 23rd annual Spring River Cleanup with nearly 4,000 volunteers joining together across the Milwaukee River Basin to pick up trash, get outdoors and help to achieve swimmable, fishable rivers. Afterward, cleanup volunteers and the community are welcome at the free 7th annual Rock the Green Earth Day Celebration, presented by Milwaukee Riverkeeper, from noon to 2 p.m. at Estabrook Park, Picnic Area 8.

The celebration will provide eco-education from local environmental nonprofits and organizations. Local guitarist Evan Christian will give a live concert on a pedal-powered stage provided by The Velo Femmes, Black Girls Do Bike and Cadence Cycling Milwaukee. Local food vendors will be selling tasty sustainable fare. To have a maximum impact of landfill diversion, the event incorporates zero waste production including waste reclamation stations and food served on compostable serving ware.

Natural Awakenings, Milwaukee Riverkeeper, Anthologie Inc., Sunrun, the City of Milwaukee Environmental Collaboration Office, 88Nine RadioMilwaukee, WUWM 89.7 FM, Shepherd Express and Milwaukee County Parks are sponsors of the event.
