Spring Floral Show ‘Seasons of Legend’ at Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservancy

From April 3 through May 31, the Milwaukee County Parks System at Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservancy, better known as “The Domes”, presents the spring floral show “Seasons of Legend.” Visitors can view ways that different cultures used folklore to explain the changing of the seasons. The legends are told with props and more than 3,000 brightly colored plants.

The Floral Show Dome is divided into five sections, each showcasing one of the legends. “Seasons of Legend” highlights Why Trees Lose Their Leaves (Cherokee), and why pine trees keep their needles; The Blue Corn Maiden (Hopi) tells the origin of Spring; Zhulong: The Candle Dragon (Chinese) highlights the changing of seasons; Persephone and Demeter (Greek) tells the origin of Spring; and Amaterasu: The Sun Goddess (Shinto) explains the coming of light.

The new reservation system and one-way routes with physical distancing let visitors safely enjoy “Seasons of Legend” in the Floral Show Dome, along with exhibits in the Tropical Dome and the Desert Dome. Face masks are required inside the Mitchell Park Domes.

Cost: $8; free for members. Discounts available for children, seniors, persons with disabilities and Milwaukee County residents. Location: 524 S. Layton Blvd., Milwaukee. For more information or to make reservations, call 414-257-5600 or visit County.Milwaukee.gov/EN/Parks/Explore/The-Domes.
