Milwaukee Energy Efficiency (Me2) Offers Energy Savings for Businesses

Milwaukee Energy Efficiency (Me2), sponsored by the city of Milwaukee Office of Environmental Sustainability and the U.S. Department of Energy, is offering grants for business owners to upgrade the energy efficiency of their properties. This program can cover up to 60 percent of a project’s total cost. Any non-residential property located in the city of Milwaukee, including four-plus unit multi-family properties, can participate.

With Me2, business owners can cut expenses and upgrade the value and comfort of their buildings with energy-efficient lighting, heating and cooling equipment, refrigeration and other technologies. Energy upgrades result in lower energy bills, less overhead and greater stability. They can also mean more reliable equipment, improved processes, better health and better lighting.

Me2 seeks to reward energy-efficiency actions with powerful financial incentives. To qualify for the highest cash incentives, a goal of at least 25 percent energy savings for a project should be targeted. These also can be accompanied by one of four financing options, which offer low interest rates and flexible repayment terms. The objective is to offer affordable upgrades to Milwaukee property owners with little or no money down.
